Prominent women’s rights activist Julia Parsia has issued a passionate appeal to the international community, declaring that the collective voice of Afghan women resisting systemic oppression must not be silenced or ignored by world powers.

In a statement published on Tuesday, October 20 [28 Mizan/Mehr], Parsia highlighted her participation in the “Unbreakable Voice” conference in Berlin, Germany—a strategic gathering focused on fostering transnational solidarity and building trust networks among exiled women activists, civil society leaders, and international advocates.

Resisting Eradication from Public Life

Parsia stressed that despite severe institutional repression, systemic bans on education, and restrictions on movement enacted by the de facto Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Afghan women continue to resist the erasure of their fundamental human rights:

  • International Solidarity Deficit: The activist warned that global indifference, geopolitical fatigue, and diplomatic normalization risks abandoning Afghan women to total disenfranchisement under rigid gender-segregation policies.
  • Uniting Diaspora Networks: The “Unbreakable Voice” initiative in Berlin aims to consolidate coalition-building among frontline activists, ensuring that the struggle of women inside Afghanistan remains central to international human rights agendas.
  • Refusal to Accept Silence: Parsia urged international human rights bodies and host governments to provide concrete diplomatic, financial, and political support to women-led resistance movements fighting for basic civil liberties, legal protections, and dignity.

Deepening Gender Segregation Under De Facto Rule

Since returning to power, the de facto administration has issued dozens of restrictive decrees barring women and girls from secondary and higher education, banning female employment in most public and private sectors, and prohibiting access to public parks and recreation facilities.

Rights organizations continue to call for international accountability mechanisms, emphasizing that the resilience demonstrated by activists like Parsia underscores the urgent need for unified global action against state-enforced gender persecution.
