Former Afghan Minister of Justice Fazal Ahmad Manavi has voiced strong support for the International Criminal Court’s decision to publicly unseal arrest warrants for four senior Taliban leaders. Manavi emphasized that legal responsibility for grave violations of law and fundamental human rights does not dissipate with the passage of time.
In his remarks, Manavi noted that the ICC’s legal indictments send a definitive message to perpetrators of systematic oppression. He stressed that individuals who commit crimes against humanity and strip citizens of their basic rights cannot evade long-term justice simply by relying on temporary political control or geographical isolation.
The former justice minister’s endorsement adds significant legal weight to the international tribunal’s actions. As global pressure mounts on the de facto administration, legal experts and former officials continue to highlight that accountability remains an inescapable reality for those responsible for ongoing abuses across Afghanistan.
