Clashes have taken place between Taliban-affiliated forces and residents of Palir village in Jorm district of Badakhshan province, with local sources claiming heavy casualties on both sides.

According to local sources, individuals affiliated with Qari Fasihuddin, head of the Taliban army’s general staff, launched an attack on Palir village in the Khestak Valley last night. Sources said the forces were supporting residents of the nearby Kip village.

The sources claimed that several Taliban-affiliated fighters were killed or wounded during the fighting. They also said that several residents of Palir village were killed.

The dispute between residents of the two villages has continued for years, according to local sources. They said tensions have intensified in recent years following Taliban involvement in the area, resulting in casualties and financial losses.

Sources further claimed that Qari Fasihuddin became angry following the reported losses among forces affiliated with him and sent additional personnel to the area.
