Mawlawi Gul Hassan Hassan, the Taliban government’s ambassador to Moscow, attended the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Russia, where he held meetings with senior Russian officials on the sidelines of the event.
According to the reported details, Gul Hassan Hassan met with Igor Levitin, Special Representative of the Russian President, along with several other Russian officials. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between Afghanistan and Russia.

The Eastern Economic Forum, held annually in Vladivostok, brings together government officials, business leaders and representatives from various countries to discuss economic cooperation and investment opportunities, particularly across Russia’s Far East and the wider region.
For the Taliban authorities, participation in such international forums provides an opportunity to promote Afghanistan’s economic potential and seek stronger relations with foreign governments and businesses.
The discussions with Russian officials could further strengthen Moscow-Kabul ties at a time when both sides have expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation. Afghanistan has been seeking greater foreign investment and trade partnerships, while Russia has shown interest in increasing economic and regional engagement with the country.
The latest meetings underline the Taliban’s continued diplomatic outreach and Russia’s growing practical engagement with Afghanistan.
