The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister’s Office has officially announced a structured pricing model for land within industrial parks across the country. Under this newly adopted framework, rates are set between 50 and 150 afghanis per square meter, determined strictly by provincial classifications.
The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting of the Economic Commission, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. According to the guidelines, first-grade provinces—including major hubs like Herat, Kandahar, Balkh, and Nangarhar—will have a land rate of 150 afghanis per square meter. Second-tier provinces like Ghazni and Jowzjan are priced at 100 afghanis, while third-grade provinces are marked at 50 afghanis. Capital city Kabul has been designated under a separate category to address its unique urban and economic landscape.
This policy shift builds on continuous administrative efforts to streamline industrial land distribution. Previously, senior leadership emphasized that transferring state lands to domestic industrialists is a crucial step toward strengthening national manufacturing, reducing import reliance, and creating sustainable employment. By formalizing these tiered rates and sending them for final authorization, the administration aims to provide predictable, transparent costs for investors, fostering a stable environment conducive to long-term industrial expansion and cross-border commercial cooperation.
