The Pakistani military reported that its security forces engaged and killed 12 combined members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and de facto Afghan Taliban personnel during a major cross-border skirmish in the Kurram district border zone.

According to official military press releases issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security units intercepted a heavily armed squad of TTP insurgents attempting to infiltrate into Pakistani territory from cross-border sanctuaries in Afghanistan. Statements indicate that de facto Afghan Taliban border outposts provided direct fire support—deploying mortars and heavy automatic weapons—to facilitate the insurgent crossing, prompting intense retaliatory strikes by Pakistani border troops. One Pakistani soldier was killed during the tactical exchange.

The military operation highlights escalating strategic friction along the Durand Line, where Pakistani defense officials have repeatedly accused Kabul’s de facto administration of providing safe havens and operational backing to anti-Pakistan militant factions. In contrast, spokesperson representatives for the 203 Mansouri Corps in eastern Afghanistan claimed their border units acted purely in response to unprovoked Pakistani artillery shelling.

Security analysts emphasize that sustained cross-border clashes along the Kurram-Paktia axis reflect the breakdown of bilateral security coordination. As infiltration attempts and border outposts exchanges persist, regional volatility continues to threaten cross-border trade corridors and local community stability across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
