Residents of the sixth district of Feizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province, have raised concerns over the suspension of a road construction project, saying the work has stopped before the planned road was completed.

According to local residents, more than 100 houses and shops were demolished to make way for the road. However, they say only a small section of the project has been completed, while several other portions remain unfinished, leaving the area in poor condition.

Residents claim that sections of the road are still unpaved and covered with dirt, despite the demolition of residential and commercial properties. They say the incomplete project has caused significant difficulties for families living in the surrounding area.

Kheyraldin, a resident of Dasht-e Shohada who spoke under a pseudonym, said more than half of his house was demolished to facilitate the road project. He expressed frustration that his property was destroyed while the road itself remained incomplete.

“In my entire life, I was able to build one mansion, which they destroyed for this road, but the road wasn’t built either. Both the road and my house are gone,” he said.

Another resident, Mohammadiar, also speaking under a pseudonym, said the construction progressed slowly. He added that dust generated during the project has created problems for families living near the road.

Residents are calling for the authorities to complete the stalled construction and address the difficulties caused by the project. The concerns also highlight the impact of incomplete infrastructure projects on communities whose homes and businesses have been affected by construction work.
