A British court has sentenced 29-year-old Afghan national Baktash Sultani to 14 years in prison after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two girls in Manchester.

According to the prosecution’s case, Sultani first became acquainted with one of the girls through Snapchat before inviting her and a friend to his home in December 2025. Prosecutors said he encouraged both girls to consume excessive amounts of alcohol, allegedly with the intention of leaving them unable to resist.

The court heard that one of the girls eventually managed to leave the property and sought help from neighbors, who alerted police. The case was subsequently investigated by British authorities.

During sentencing, the judge said Sultani had deliberately encouraged the girls to drink beyond their limits, leaving them vulnerable and unable to resist the subsequent assaults. A jury rejected Sultani’s claims that the sexual activity had taken place with the consent of both girls.

Sultani reportedly arrived in Britain around two years before the incident and held legal residency documents. His defence lawyer told the court that Sultani had previously worked with the British military in Afghanistan and had suffered injuries, claiming these circumstances contributed to his decision to leave Afghanistan in 2021.

Following the conviction, the court imposed a 14-year prison sentence. The case highlights the serious legal consequences in Britain for sexual offences involving allegations of exploitation and lack of consent.
