The armed opposition group United Front has claimed responsibility for an attack against the Taliban in Badakhshan Province, saying one Taliban member was killed.

According to a statement released by the group, the attack took place last night in the Dasht-e-Ara area of Tagab District.

The United Front said its forces targeted a Taliban member during the incident and claimed that he was killed in the attack. The group did not provide further details about the identity of the individual or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The claim has not been independently verified, and no additional information about possible casualties or damage was immediately available.

Badakhshan has witnessed occasional security incidents and claims of armed attacks by anti-Taliban groups since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in August 2021. Various opposition groups have periodically claimed operations against Taliban positions and personnel in different parts of the country.

The latest claim from the United Front comes amid continuing security concerns in several Afghan provinces. However, independent verification of individual battlefield claims remains difficult because access to some areas is limited and conflicting accounts are frequently reported.

No immediate response from Taliban authorities regarding the reported incident in Tagab District was mentioned in the United Front’s statement.
