Informed sources have told Afghanistan International that Abdul Hakim Sharaee, the Taliban’s Minister of Justice, has demanded the evacuation of homes belonging to several prominent Shia figures in Sabz Omid Township in Kabul.
According to the sources, the demand is reportedly linked to the release of members of the Supreme Shia Commission who have been detained by the Taliban authorities.
The reported development comes after recent claims that the Taliban Ministry of Justice dissolved the Supreme Commission of Afghan Shiites and confiscated the membership cards of 25 members. Sources previously said the members were instructed not to return to the commission’s office or conduct activities under its framework.
The latest allegations suggest that the Taliban authorities are now seeking the evacuation of properties belonging to several prominent Shia figures as part of arrangements surrounding the detained commission members.
The homes are reportedly located in Sabz Omid Township, an area associated with Kabul’s Shia community. Details about the number of properties involved, the identities of their owners and the specific conditions for the reported release remain unclear.
The claims have not been independently verified, and the Taliban Ministry of Justice has not been cited as publicly confirming the reported demands.
The development has drawn further attention to the situation of Afghanistan’s Shia community and the Taliban’s approach toward Shia religious and community institutions.
