Pakistan forces reportedly carried out overnight airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktia and Kunar provinces, killing more than 25 militants, including two key commanders of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to an Afghan Taliban security official.

The official said the strikes were conducted late at night in the two provinces. Rescue teams later reached the affected areas, where they recovered the bodies of those killed and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The reported strikes also left 14 militants injured. The identities of the two TTP commanders reportedly killed in the attacks were not immediately disclosed.

The strikes come amid continued security tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over militant activity along the border. Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over the presence of TTP members and alleged militant sanctuaries in Afghanistan, while the Afghan Taliban authorities have rejected accusations that Afghan territory is being used against Pakistan.

The latest reported airstrikes could further increase tensions between Islamabad and Kabul as both sides continue to face disputes over cross-border militancy and security.

The reported casualty figures and details of the strikes were provided by the Afghan Taliban security official cited in the report.
