KABUL: Several massive explosions have been reported from different parts of Afghanistan, including Paktika, Nangarhar, Helmand and Kandahar, with Afghan Taliban positions among the reported targets.
Local sources said explosions were heard in multiple locations, raising concerns over a fresh escalation in Afghanistan’s security situation. Initial information indicates that Taliban positions were targeted, although details about the attackers, the nature of the strikes and the extent of the damage remain unclear.
Paktika and Nangarhar are located in eastern Afghanistan, while Helmand and Kandahar are key southern provinces. All four areas have experienced armed conflict and militant activity over the years.
Nangarhar has also remained a significant security concern because of the presence and activities of Islamic State-Khorasan (ISIS-K), while Paktika has witnessed security incidents along Afghanistan’s eastern border.
There were no immediate confirmed details about casualties or material damage caused by the explosions. Taliban authorities have also not yet provided a comprehensive statement regarding the incidents.
The reports come amid continued security tensions in Afghanistan and growing international concern over militant activity and instability in several parts of the country.
Further details are expected as local authorities assess the situation and provide information about the reported explosions and their impact.
