Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Branch in Peshawar has taken four Afghan nationals into custody for allegedly procuring forged National Identity Cards (CNICs) and Pakistani passports through fraudulent channels.

Official sources confirm that formal legal cases have been registered against the suspects following preliminary intelligence sweeps across the provincial capital. Investigators revealed that operations are actively underway to dismantle the broader facilitation network, identify insider facilitators within administrative departments, and track additional participants involved in issuing unverified travel credentials.

The crackdown aligns with intensified national security measures enforced by Pakistani federal authorities to curb undocumented migration, fraudulent identity card rings, and illegal cross-border movements. Over recent months, the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking and Anti-Corruption units have launched targeted raids across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, arresting scores of undocumented foreign nationals and corrupt intermediaries engaged in commercializing state documentation.

Security analysts emphasize that stringent enforcement against illegal identity card procurement remains central to Pakistan’s internal security posture, aimed at mitigating cross-border security risks, financial fraud, and unauthorized international transit.
