De facto security forces in Helmand province have handed over the body of Nasir Ahmad, a former national security officer, to his family after five months of incommunicado detention and severe physical torture.

According to local sources reporting on Thursday, October 15 (23 Mizaan), Nasir Ahmad was arrested five months ago alongside Allah-Dad Badizi, a former local police commander under the previous government. Sources confirmed that both individuals were subjected to brutal, prolonged torture during their illegal detention, ultimately succumbing to their injuries before their remains were released to their respective families.

The extrajudicial killing of Nasir Ahmad and Allah-Dad Badizi adds to a growing catalog of targeted reprisals and custodial deaths carried out against former members of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF). United Nations monitoring bodies have repeatedly warned that despite the general amnesty declared by the de facto leadership, former security personnel continue to face arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, severe torture, and extrajudicial executions.

Human rights organizations emphasize that the lack of institutional accountability inside de facto intelligence facilities and provincial security headquarters has enabled systematic retaliation against former government personnel, leaving families across southern provinces in constant fear of violent reprisal.
