Security officials in southwestern Nimruz province have executed two major interdiction operations, resulting in the arrest of four individuals linked to large-scale drug trafficking and illicit precursor chemical smuggling.

According to an official press release issued by the Nimruz police command, counter-narcotics units intercepted a cargo vehicle transporting 20 cartons of raw opium destined for an undisclosed location. In a separate, simultaneous operation elsewhere in the province, security forces detained two additional suspects connected to the trafficking of 10,000 liters of acetic anhydride—a critical chemical precursor heavily utilized in the illegal refining and processing of morphine into heroin.

De facto law enforcement officials stated that all four detainees have been placed under administrative detention pending the finalization of initial investigative proceedings. Following the completion of case files, the suspects will be transferred to formal judicial and legal institutions for prosecution.

The interception highlights ongoing borderland enforcement challenges involving southwest trafficking corridors. Nimruz shares porous international borders with both Iran and Pakistan, making it a primary transit route for both outbound narcotics shipments moving westward and inbound industrial precursor chemicals utilized by illicit underground processing laboratories across the region.
