Local sources in Panjshir province, citing the family of Tabesh Jasoos, say they have received no information about his whereabouts or condition 45 days after he was detained by Taliban intelligence.
According to the sources, Taliban intelligence officers arrested Jasoos from his home in Panjshir on August 12. His relatives say they have not been informed about where he is being held or what has happened to him since his detention.
Family members said they believe his arrest was linked to critical posts he had published on Facebook concerning Taliban officials in Badakhshan province.
Sources said Jasoos had frequently written about identity and cultural issues affecting people in Panjshir and had expressed support for Tajik cultural and social concerns.
The family has called for information about his status and whereabouts, while Taliban authorities have not publicly commented on the case.
The circumstances surrounding Jasoos’s detention remain unclear, and there has been no independent confirmation of the allegations concerning his treatment or place of detention.
The case comes amid continuing concerns from Afghan rights groups and activists over the detention of journalists, critics and civil society figures under Taliban rule. Rights advocates have repeatedly called for detainees to be given access to legal protections and for authorities to disclose the whereabouts and status of people held in custody.
