An Afghan construction worker, identified as Ihsanullah Mohammadi, has died after being buried under soil following a landslide at a construction site, according to a report by Zawia News.

The report said Mohammadi was carrying out construction work when a landslide caused him and another Turkmenistani worker to fall into a trench. Both workers were reportedly trapped under the soil following the incident.

Rescue teams continued operations for approximately 12 hours in an effort to reach the two workers. After the prolonged rescue effort, Ihsanullah Mohammadi was recovered but had died from the incident.

His Turkmenistani colleague was reportedly rescued alive and taken to safety in an injured condition. The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.

The incident highlights the risks faced by construction workers, particularly at sites where unstable soil, trenches and excavation work can create serious hazards.

Local sources described Mohammadi as a young Afghan worker who had been earning a livelihood through construction work. His death has reportedly caused grief among colleagues and those familiar with him.

Further details about the exact location of the construction site and the circumstances that led to the landslide were not provided in the available report.

The incident underscores the importance of safety measures and proper precautions at construction and excavation sites to protect workers from potentially fatal accidents.
