Kabul: According to internal sources, a significant and lengthy meeting reportedly took place in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province between Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Noor Wali Mehsud.
Sources claim the meeting began at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Monday and continued for around seven to eight hours. Discussions reportedly focused on the regional situation, growing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and various matters related to the TTP.
According to the same sources, Zabihullah Mujahid allegedly handed over eight additional drones to Noor Wali Mehsud during the meeting. The sources further claim that the provision of a professional social media team and other resources for the TTP was also discussed.
Several local Taliban commanders reportedly accompanied Mujahid, while a number of senior TTP leaders were said to have attended the meeting alongside Noor Wali Mehsud.
If confirmed, the reported meeting and alleged transfer of equipment could have significant implications for Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, particularly amid Islamabad’s longstanding concerns over the presence and activities of TTP members in Afghanistan.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban administration to prevent Afghan territory from being used by militant groups against Pakistan. Kabul, however, has consistently rejected allegations that it provides organized support to the TTP.
The claims regarding the meeting, drones and other alleged assistance have not been independently verified. No official statement from the Taliban administration or TTP confirming the reported meeting or its details was provided in the information available.
