General Yasin Zia, leader of the Freedom Front of Afghanistan, has described the opposition fronts’ struggle against the Taliban as a “manly struggle” while strongly criticizing the Taliban leadership.

Speaking about the ongoing confrontation between Taliban forces and their opponents, Zia called the Taliban “the most unprincipled group in the world” and questioned the group’s conduct during the previous Afghan government.

Zia also recalled encounters between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters during the Republic era. He claimed that Taliban members had, on several occasions, disguised themselves by wearing women’s clothing while attempting to operate or move through areas controlled by government forces.

His remarks come as Afghan opposition groups continue to criticize Taliban rule and call for political change in the country. Since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, several resistance and opposition groups have continued to operate against the group, particularly in parts of northern Afghanistan.

The Taliban, however, maintain that they have established security and stability across most of Afghanistan and reject the legitimacy of armed opposition groups.

Zia’s latest comments reflect the continued hostility between Taliban authorities and their opponents, with political and armed resistance groups seeking greater international attention toward Afghanistan’s political and security situation.

The opposition groups argue that Afghanistan needs an inclusive political system, while the Taliban have continued to defend their current system of governance.
