KABUL: A teacher has been killed in Laghman province amid continuing security concerns in the area, according to local sources.

Sources said the incident took place in Qal’eh Fath Khan village, located on the outskirts of the provincial capital. The killing was confirmed to local media on Monday, October 5, corresponding to 5 Miizan in the Afghan calendar.

The circumstances surrounding the killing, including the identity of the perpetrators and their motive, remain unclear. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident, and Taliban authorities have not provided details about the case in the information available.

The incident has raised further concerns over security in parts of Laghman, where residents have previously reported incidents of violence and insecurity.

Teachers and other civilians continue to face security challenges in several parts of Afghanistan. However, details surrounding individual incidents can be difficult to independently verify, particularly when official information is limited.

Local sources said investigations into the killing are expected to determine the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.

The killing comes as Afghanistan continues to face security challenges despite Taliban authorities’ repeated claims that nationwide security has improved since their return to power in August 2021.
