Sources in west Kabul say Taliban forces arrested at least 10 women online sellers last week while they had gathered in a residential unit to carry out their business activities.
According to the sources, the women were arrested last Wednesday after gathering at a house in west Kabul to advance their commercial work. No further details have so far been made public regarding the reason for their reported arrest or whether they have been released.
Local residents have expressed concern over what they describe as growing pressure on women under Taliban rule. They said the women were not involved in political or civil activities and had gathered solely to conduct their commercial work.
According to residents, Taliban forces entered the residential unit and took away the women who were present there. The circumstances surrounding the raid and the current whereabouts of those detained remain unclear.
Ali, a local resident whose name has been changed for security reasons, said Taliban forces entered the house and took the women away. He added that residents of the area had no information about the reason for their arrest.
The reported incident has raised further concerns among some residents about restrictions faced by women seeking to work and operate businesses in Afghanistan. However, there has been no official statement from the Taliban regarding the reported arrests, and the allegations could not be independently verified based on the information available.
