KABUL: A Taliban special court has declared 600 jeribs of land belonging to the Khatam al-Anbiya residential project in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, as state property, according to the Taliban Ministry of Justice.
The ministry said the decision concerns land located in the Qal’a-ye Qal-e Mohammad area, within the administrative boundaries of the 12th district of Mazar-i-Sharif.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Project is a residential development in the area, with residents and property owners living on or holding interests in the site.
The Taliban Ministry of Justice did not provide further details in the available information about the legal basis for the court’s decision, the ownership documents involved or whether compensation would be provided to affected residents and owners.
The owners and residents of the residential project have not publicly commented on the decision so far.
Land and property disputes have remained a significant issue in Afghanistan, particularly following the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021. Taliban authorities have established special courts and committees to examine land ownership and property-related cases across the country.
The latest decision could affect residents and property holders connected to the Khatam al-Anbiya Project. Further details about the court proceedings and the implementation of the decision remain unclear.
