Islamic Party leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar has indirectly responded to recent remarks by party Leadership Council member Juma Khan Hamdard, who described Hekmatyar’s latest statements as his personal views rather than the official position of the party.

Without naming Hamdard, Hekmatyar wrote on his X account that those interested in politics should not turn it into a “ridiculous game” and should instead pursue politics based on principles, objectives and established guidelines.

Hekmatyar emphasized that the party should bring together individuals committed to its principles and political objectives. He also argued that a political party cannot be built around what he described as “a few dual nationals and hired members,” suggesting that such a structure cannot produce healthy politics.

Hamdard had recently urged members of the Islamic Party not to consider Hekmatyar’s personal statements as decisions representing the entire party. His comments appeared to create a distinction between the party’s official position and statements made by its leader.

The latest exchange highlights apparent differences within the Islamic Party over political messaging and the authority of individual statements. Hekmatyar had previously called on party members to distance themselves from political groups and factions that oppose the party’s positions.

Hekmatyar currently resides in Malaysia after leaving Afghanistan. The latest statements indicate that disagreements over the party’s political direction and representation remain visible among its senior figures.
