Dawood Naji, head of the political committee of the Freedom Front of Afghanistan, says the Freedom Front and the National Resistance Front have remained among the movements seeking to keep the space for resistance alive since the Taliban returned to power.

Naji made the remarks while discussing the activities and objectives of opposition movements following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. He said both fronts had attempted to maintain resistance efforts from the early days of Taliban rule.

According to Naji, the two movements consider continued resistance an important part of their political and organizational activities. His comments highlight the ongoing opposition to Taliban rule from groups operating outside the current governing structure.

The Freedom Front and National Resistance Front have both claimed responsibility for attacks against Taliban positions in different parts of Afghanistan. The groups have presented themselves as part of a broader resistance movement opposing the Taliban authorities.

The Taliban, meanwhile, has maintained that security has improved across Afghanistan since it took control of the country and has repeatedly rejected claims that armed opposition groups pose a significant threat to its rule.

Naji’s latest comments come as Afghanistan continues to face political challenges surrounding governance, international recognition and relations between the Taliban authorities and opposition groups.

The continued statements from resistance figures indicate that political and armed opposition to the Taliban remains an important issue in Afghanistan’s evolving political landscape. However, claims regarding military activities and the strength of opposition groups are often difficult to independently verify.
