NURISTAN: Freedom Front forces have captured a Taliban outpost in Kamdish district of Nuristan province, according to local sources.
The sources said the outpost was captured on Tuesday, September 27, amid heavy fighting between Freedom Front forces and the Taliban in the area.
According to local accounts, clashes have continued following earlier Taliban attacks against Freedom Front positions in Kamdish district. The sources did not provide details about casualties or the extent of the reported territorial change.
Neither Taliban officials nor representatives of the Freedom Front have issued an official statement confirming the capture of the outpost.
At the same time, a media outlet associated with Taliban intelligence said Taliban forces had launched a clearance operation in Nuristan. The claim suggests that Taliban forces are conducting operations in areas where fighting with opposition forces has been reported.
A video circulated from Nuristan shows armed individuals identifying themselves as members of the Afghan Liberation Front standing near what appears to be a military base. The video could not independently establish the exact location or circumstances shown.
The latest claims come amid renewed fighting in parts of Nuristan, where anti-Taliban groups have previously claimed attacks against Taliban positions.
The reported capture of the outpost and the current battlefield situation could not be independently verified.
