ISLAMABAD — China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Affairs, Yue Xiaoyong, visited Islamabad where he held a crucial meeting with Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq.

During the talks, both leaders engaged in a detailed discussion on bilateral matters, the overall regional security situation, and joint frameworks to counter terrorist networks operating inside Afghanistan. The dialogue focused heavily on mitigating regional security risks posed by militant groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM).

The representatives agreed to enhance bilateral coordination and effectively operationalize the Urumqi dialogue process to preserve regional peace and stability. Both Beijing and Islamabad reiterated that Afghan territory must not be utilized by any entity to launch terrorist operations against neighboring nations.

Regional analysts view this high-level consultation as strategically vital, demonstrating tight alignment between Pakistan and China in pressing the interim Afghan administration on critical security obligations. Islamabad has long maintained that militant sanctuaries across the border pose a direct threat to Pakistan’s national security, making robust regional cooperation indispensable.
