Anti-Taliban armed fronts say they have intensified attacks against Taliban positions and forces across several provinces of Afghanistan over the past week, according to statements and reports published by the groups.

The Afghanistan Republic Front, Afghanistan Freedom Front, National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, and United Front of Afghanistan have collectively reported at least 15 operations and attacks during the period.

The Afghanistan Republic Front reported an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Ghazni’s Qarabagh district on September 4, claiming that Taliban personnel were killed or wounded. The group has also previously claimed attacks targeting a vehicle carrying a Taliban intelligence chief in Kabul’s Dasht-e Barchi area and a Taliban member associated with the Amr bil Maruf department in Bamiyan.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front reported operations in Kabul, Badakhshan, Herat and Kunar. It claimed intense clashes in Zebak district of Badakhshan, alleging that 16 Taliban members were killed or wounded. The group also reported attacks on a checkpoint in Kabul’s 16th security district, as well as operations in Herat and Kunar and rocket fire targeting a building in Fayzabad.

The National Resistance Front reported operations in Herat, Baghlan and Badakhshan. It claimed two Taliban members were killed in an attack in Rabat Sangi district of Herat and said some equipment was seized. It also claimed responsibility for an attack on the Taliban mayor’s vehicle in Fayzabad and an operation in Baghlan’s Firing district.

Meanwhile, the United Front reported attacks in Kandahar and Paktika, including operations in Arghandab and Daman districts of Kandahar and Metakhan district of Paktika.

The casualty figures and operational claims made by the groups have not been independently verified.
