Afghanistan’s national cricket team opens its three-match Twenty20 International series against India at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi today (Sunday).
The opening fixture marks the beginning of a brief bilateral contest hosted by Afghanistan under its Future Tours Program, with all matches scheduled to be played at the Delhi venue. The series serves as an important competitive milestone for the squad as both teams fine-tune their preparations for upcoming regional tournaments, including the Asian Games.
Afghanistan enters the series led by captain Ibrahim Zadran alongside seasoned core players, including premier spinner Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq. Meanwhile, the Indian side features a mix of experienced campaigners and emerging talent under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer.
The second and third fixtures of the series are scheduled for September 15 and September 17 respectively, providing a high-intensity platform for regional competition.
