The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in Kabul, saying two Taliban members were killed and two others wounded.

In a statement, the group said the attack took place at around 8:50 p.m. in the Northern Serai area, within the jurisdiction of Kabul’s 11th Security District. The Freedom Front claimed that its forces carried out the attack against the Taliban checkpoint.

According to the group’s statement, two Taliban members were killed in the attack, while another two sustained injuries.

The Freedom Front, an armed anti-Taliban group, has previously claimed attacks against Taliban security personnel and positions in different parts of Afghanistan. Such claims are often difficult to independently verify, and no independent confirmation of the reported casualties was provided in the statement.

The reported incident comes amid continued security challenges in Afghanistan, where armed opposition groups have periodically claimed attacks against Taliban forces and checkpoints.

The Freedom Front has described itself as an organization seeking political and security changes in Afghanistan and has claimed responsibility for several attacks since the Taliban returned to power in 2021.

No further details about the attack, including the type of weapons used or possible civilian casualties, were provided in the group’s statement.
