More than 30 employees of the Badakhshan Revenue Department have reportedly resigned in protest against what they describe as mistreatment and harassment by the province’s Revenue Officer, Maulvi Gul Ahmad.

According to sources, the employees submitted their resignations yesterday, citing alleged abusive behavior and intimidation by the revenue officer. The sources claim that Gul Ahmad has threatened employees with a pistol and subjected them to insults and verbal abuse.

The allegations have reportedly created tension among staff members of the department, prompting a collective decision by more than 30 employees to leave their positions in protest.

Sources further alleged that, a few days ago, one of the revenue officer’s close associates detained an employee named Jalal inside a restroom at the Revenue Department. According to the sources, Jalal was allegedly kept there for several hours.

The reported incident has added to concerns among employees regarding their treatment and working conditions within the department.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and no response from Maulvi Gul Ahmad or the Badakhshan Revenue Department was included in the information available.

The mass resignations could affect the functioning of the provincial revenue department if the employees do not return to their positions or if authorities fail to address their complaints.

The reported development comes amid wider concerns over governance, accountability and the treatment of public-sector employees in Afghanistan. Recent reports have also highlighted internal disputes and tensions involving officials and local power structures in Badakhshan.
