NURISTAN: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed that its forces took control of the Kamdesh area in Nuristan province following clashes with Taliban forces on September 29.

According to the group, its fighters seized weapons belonging to the Taliban during the fighting and killed more than 20 Taliban members.

The AFF did not provide detailed information about the location of the reported clashes, the weapons it claimed to have captured or the circumstances surrounding the reported casualties.

The claim comes amid renewed reports of fighting between Taliban forces and anti-Taliban groups in parts of Nuristan. Kamdesh district has previously witnessed clashes involving the Taliban and armed opposition groups.

There was no immediate detailed statement from Taliban authorities confirming the reported loss of control of the area or the casualty figures claimed by the AFF.

The reported developments could not be independently verified. Battlefield claims from the parties involved can differ significantly, particularly in areas where independent access and communication are limited.

Further information from local sources or independent observers would be needed to establish the current security situation in Kamdesh, confirm control of the area and verify the reported casualties and weapons seizures.
