PANJSHIR — Taliban forces reportedly prevented local residents from participating in the burial ceremony of Hasib Panjshiri, a commander of the National Resistance Front who was recently killed in a Taliban ambush.

According to a message from one of Panjshiri’s close associates to Amu, Taliban members restricted access to the burial ceremony in Panjshir and did not allow local residents to approach the site.

The source claimed that around 1,000 people had gathered to attend the funeral and pay their respects. However, Taliban members allegedly held the mourners at a distance of approximately 500 meters and prevented them from coming closer to the ceremony.

Hasib Panjshiri was killed last Thursday in an ambush by Taliban forces in northern Salang, along with several of his companions. His death has drawn attention amid continuing reports of clashes between Taliban forces and members of armed opposition groups in parts of Afghanistan.

The reported restrictions on attendance at his burial have also raised concerns over public access to funeral ceremonies and the treatment of families and supporters of individuals killed in armed confrontations.

The account comes from a close associate of Panjshiri and could not independently be verified. Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the burial have not been provided.
