KABUL: A bride and the groom’s uncle were killed following gunfire at a wedding ceremony in Dand district of Kandahar province, according to local sources.
Sources said the incident took place in the Amarat area of Dand district on Saturday, October 4, or 4 Miizan.
According to the sources, the incident followed a verbal dispute between members of the bride’s and groom’s families over the transportation of the bride by car. The disagreement reportedly escalated before gunfire broke out at the wedding ceremony.
Sources said the groom’s uncle opened fire on the bride before turning the weapon on himself. The bride, identified as 22-year-old Kafiya, was killed in the shooting.
The man, identified as Abdul Wahid, approximately 30 years old, was seriously injured after the incident and was taken to Mirwais Hospital. He later died from his injuries.
