KABUL: The United Front of Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for an overnight attack targeting a Taliban command center in Darayim district of Badakhshan province.
In a statement, the group said its forces carried out the operation against a Taliban military position in Darayim district, located in the mountainous Badakhshan region.
The United Front claimed that one Taliban member was killed and three others were wounded during the operation. The group described the attack as part of its ongoing armed activities against Taliban forces in the province.
The claims could not be independently verified, and no Taliban statement confirming the reported casualties was included in the available information.
Badakhshan has remained an area of activity for several Afghan opposition and resistance groups since the Taliban returned to power in August 2021. Such groups have periodically claimed attacks against Taliban positions, while Taliban authorities have generally disputed or provided different accounts of incidents involving their forces.
The latest claim comes amid continued security tensions in parts of northern Afghanistan, where armed opposition groups have sought to challenge Taliban control through attacks on military and security installations.
Further details about the reported operation, including the extent of damage to the targeted facility and the identities of those involved, were not immediately available.
