Former Pakistani diplomat Ayaz Muhammad Khan has described the current situation in Afghanistan as delicate, stressing that the international community has an urgent and clear responsibility to help prevent further deterioration.
Speaking in an interview with a local television channel, Khan said the international community should use its diplomatic pressure and influence on the Taliban to encourage the ruling authorities to respect the principles of good neighborliness and international relations.
According to the former diplomat, Afghanistan’s internal situation and its relations with neighboring countries remain major concerns. He argued that continued disregard for the concerns of neighboring states, combined with growing dissatisfaction among the Afghan population, could create increasingly serious consequences.
Khan warned that if the Taliban leadership does not change its approach toward both domestic and foreign affairs, mounting public anger could eventually trigger an unprecedented civil war inside Afghanistan.
He emphasized that greater international engagement is needed to address the country’s political and security challenges before tensions escalate further. His remarks come amid continued concerns over Afghanistan’s political stability, humanitarian situation and relations with neighboring countries.
Khan’s comments highlight the potential risks of prolonged political isolation and unresolved domestic grievances, while calling for greater international efforts to encourage stability and responsible governance in Afghanistan.
