A gas cylinder explosion inside a rickshaw in Mehtarlam, the capital of Afghanistan’s Laghman province, injured around 14 civilians, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday in the Rahmani Chowk area of the city.

Abdul Malik Niazi, spokesman for the Laghman governor, said initial information indicates that the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder inside a rickshaw.

Around 14 civilians were reportedly killed or injured in the incident. The available initial reports indicate that the people were injured, although authorities are expected to provide more precise details following their investigation.

Authorities Launch Investigation

Security officials reached the scene following the explosion and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The governor’s spokesman said no further major problems had been reported as a result of the explosion. He added that more accurate information would be shared with the public once the investigation is completed.
