Nearly a month after a brazen home invasion targeted the residence of a female medical doctor in the Nawabad district of Ghazni province, victimized family members report that local security authorities have made zero progress in identifying or apprehending the perpetrators.

Recounting the terrifying ordeal to local media, a relative of the victim stated that all necessary evidence, witness statements, and identifying details were submitted to the local Fourth Precinct on the very first night of the incident. Despite these filings, the case has been effectively shelved: “All information and evidence were shared with the Fourth Precinct on the very first day of the robbery, but no progress has been made to date, and everything remains at a standstill just as it was on that first day.”

During the midnight raid, a gang of armed men forced their way into the home, holding all household members hostage at gunpoint while stripping the property of cash and stored gold reserves. The total lack of follow-up or investigative momentum has heightened fear among local residents, particularly professionals and minority families who feel increasingly exposed to unchecked criminal elements under the current administration.

Local security analysts note that a pervasive lack of professional investigative capacity, combined with a prioritization of political policing over civil law enforcement, has left ordinary citizens vulnerable to rising crime rates. Incidents of home invasions, armed robberies, and extortion targeting affluent residents and medical professionals continue to expose the widening gap between regime security claims and ground-level realities.

Human rights monitors emphasize that the failure to investigate violent crimes against healthcare providers and civilians further accelerates the departure of skilled professionals from provincial centers, compounding the broader humanitarian and administrative crisis across Afghanistan.
