Tensions in Badakhshan province escalated further as the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) announced responsibility for a precise military operation carried out in the provincial capital of Fayzabad.
According to an official press release issued by the front on the 15th of Miizan/Mehr, its resistance fighters successfully ambushed and executed a targeted strike against Taliban positions in the city.
The group stated that the operation resulted in the deaths of four Taliban members.
Crucially, the casualties included one of the prominent local ringleaders of the de facto administration, dealing a significant blow to their regional security command.
This latest claim highlights the growing capability of anti-Taliban armed groups to launch high-impact operations in northern urban centers.
As resistance activities persist across various pockets of the country, the incident underscores the continuous security vulnerabilities faced by the ruling administration outside its primary strongholds.
