The toll of unsafe road conditions and hazardous driving continues to mount across Afghanistan, following two separate traffic collisions in northern Baghlan province that resulted in multiple casualties.

According to local officials, the incidents occurred across different parts of the province, leaving two people dead and nine others injured. The first collision took place within the provincial capital, Pul-e Khumri, where a motorcycle collided with a Corolla car. The motorcycle rider suffered critical injuries from the impact and later succumbed to them at a nearby health center.

The second, more devastating incident occurred in the Dushi district. A violent collision between two Corolla vehicles in the Kilgi (or Kalyagi) area claimed the life of a woman and injured nine other individuals. Notably, the wounded victims included seven children and two men, all of whom were rushed to local medical facilities for urgent treatment.

Traffic accidents have seen a sharp rise across various Afghan provinces, driven by a combination of deteriorating highway infrastructure, reckless driving, and an absence of structured traffic regulations. As vulnerable populations—particularly women and children—continue to bear the brunt of these preventable highway tragedies, local communities and experts continue to call for immediate improvements to road safety standards and emergency response measures.
