KABUL — Citizens across multiple provinces in Afghanistan are voicing severe concerns over a sharp rise in unemployment and a collapsing job market since the Taliban took control of the country.

According to reports highlighting public grievances, citizens state that job opportunities within private companies have plummeted drastically. Furthermore, in government offices, hiring processes heavily favor individuals with close ties to the Taliban or specific internal experience, leaving qualified professionals sidelined.

Residents across provinces including Herat, Panjshir, Kunar, Kabul, Khost, and Ghazni have reported that the ongoing economic crisis has left them with little hope for job creation under the current administration. Families and young breadwinners face acute economic hardship, forcing many toward desperate migration, temporary labor, and low-income occupations just to survive.

The absence of a stable income has severely inflated living expenses for households and choked the future prospects of young and educated individuals across the country. Affected citizens have called on private organizations and international entities to step up employment initiatives, emphasizing that reviving the private sector and creating a secure environment for investment are vital to reversing the deepening economic decay.
