Kabul: The Khorasan Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for an attack on a Taliban checkpoint in the Northern Sarai area of Kabul, reportedly leaving four Taliban fighters dead and wounded.
According to the group’s statement, its fighters launched the attack at around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday, 25 Sawr 1405, targeting a checkpoint belonging to the Taliban. The group claimed that two Taliban fighters were killed and two others were wounded in the attack.
The Khorasan Liberation Front described the operation as a guerrilla attack and linked it to broader security concerns in Afghanistan. According to the statement, the attack comes as regional countries and neighboring states are increasingly concerned about security threats allegedly emerging from Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
The group further claimed that officials from regional countries have been visiting Kabul amid concerns over the possible spread of terrorism and extremism beyond Afghanistan’s borders. It also said neighboring countries remain skeptical of Taliban claims regarding comprehensive security across the country.
The claims regarding casualties and the circumstances of the attack were presented by the Khorasan Liberation Front. The provided statement does not include an independent confirmation of the reported deaths or injuries from Taliban authorities or other sources.
The incident highlights continuing concerns over armed attacks and security conditions in Kabul, despite the Taliban’s repeated assertions that security has improved across Afghanistan since they returned to power in 2021.
