The British Foreign Office has said that at least 5.08 million people in Afghanistan benefited from UK-funded humanitarian assistance between April 2025 and March 2026, including around 3.13 million women and girls.

According to the UK, the assistance covered food, healthcare, nutrition, water and sanitation, as well as psychosocial support.

In the food sector, around 2.418 million people received assistance, while approximately 17,000 tons of food were distributed. The UK also allocated around £19 million in cash and in-kind support to help vulnerable communities.

Healthcare assistance reached approximately 2.932 million people during the period. More than 4 million vaccine doses were administered, while over 2 million medical consultations were provided.

Nutritional assistance also benefited around 753,000 children under the age of five, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. Meanwhile, approximately 1.441 million people gained access to water and sanitation services.

The British government said humanitarian assistance also reached at least 600,000 people with disabilities.

The aid comes as Afghanistan continues to face a major humanitarian crisis. According to the figures cited by Britain, around 21.9 million people in the country currently require humanitarian assistance, while approximately 17.4 million are experiencing acute food insecurity.

The UK says its continued humanitarian support is aimed at helping the most vulnerable Afghans meet essential needs amid widespread poverty, food insecurity and limited access to basic services.
